I'm feeling very fortunate to be benefitting from your one-book-a-day schedule and the reviews and recommendations arising from it. I've had this vague notion for several years that I wanted to read Vonnegut and now you've prompted me to do so. I am not proud to admit this, but my first exposure to him came from his cameo in Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School". Some classic Dangerfield, asking his English professor out for dinner: "We could talk about Joyce. She's my favourite writer" and "Why don't you call me sometime when you have no class?". Cracking myself up over here. Thanks again for the smart recommendations (or non-recommendations, as the case may be).
